We Are Fighting For Justice For All
We also want our candidates to fight for Justice for All. Here are a few other policies we look for candidates to include in their platform before endorsing.

Criminal Justice Reform
The prison industrial complex is a profit-hoarding machine whose only objective is to keep as many people in jail as possible. America has more per-capita criminally convicted individuals than authoritarian countries. We must switch to a system of rehabilitation and treatment rather than needless punishment.

Autonomy for Indigenous People
America has consistently violated the rights, treaties, and autonomy of Indigenous nations. The government must take responsibility for the effects of this history. In regards to Indigenous nations, the U.S. government must move away from a relationship of paternalism towards one of partnership.

LGBTQ+
LGBTQ+ people in America face disproportionate levels of mental health issues, houselessness, discrimination in health care and in hiring, all because of gender hierarchy and homophobic structures. Done Waiting supports dismantling these structures and uplifting LGBTQ+ people. This includes ensuring abortion services to people who can get pregnant, as well as outlawing descrimination in all sectors of life.

Puerto Rico and DC
For over 100 years, D.C. and Puerto Rico have been subject to second-class status in our system. Done Waiting supports statehood for D.C. We also support Puerto Rico's decision to self-determine their status. Whether the territory chooses statehood, increased autonomy, or independence, the U.S. government has a responsibility to aid them in their transition.

Labor and Economic Justice
Collective bargaining gives workers more agency. In order to protect a worker’s right to bargain, Done Waiting supports repealing the Taft-Hartley Act, Right to Work legislation, and No Strike Contracts and all other policies that harm workers and instating a national 15 dollar minimum wage. Done Waiting also supports a progressive tax bracket where the wealthy are forced to pay their fair share. We must even the scales between the worker and the corporate class.

Poverty Draft
Military recruiters prey on low income communities and communities of color by making promises to assist individuals with economic burdens. Instead of using government provided healthcare, housing, and college as a coercive tactic to get young people to sign onto military service, supporting poor communities and communities of color should not be conditional on enlistment.

People with Disabilities
People with disabilities in America are forced to navigate systems that are unfriendly and non inclusive. The filing process for SSDI and SSI is clumsy and inefficient, special education programs are underfunded, and our health care infrastructure puts profit over people. Done Waiting supports programs that will provide justice and relief to individuals with disabilities.

Supporting Senior Citizens
Everyone deserves the right to age with dignity. As our population continues to get older, we need to move away from 401Ks back to pension plans, adopt a medicare for all system to look after everyone, as well as address regulatory issues in terms of assisted living, elder abuse, and caregiving.

Palestine
Since its founding in 1948, Israel has been settler colonial nation that is using western support to oppress and ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people. Done Waiting supports the nonviolent BDS movement, and believes that all people in the region deserve to live flourishing lives. Furthermore, the crimes that the Israeli government has committed (as characterized by the UN) should not be conflated with Judaism, or used to justify anti-Semetic attacks on the Jewish community.

US Intervention
United States intervention has destabilized countless countries branded as “enemy nations,” while simultaneously refusing to hold our “allies” accountable (with non-military intervention) for mass atrocities. These military exploits are solely initiated for the purpose of accumulating power, profit, and further subjugating post colonial nations. Done Waiting supports decreasing military funding and reapportioning this funding into ACTUAL humanitarian action both at home and abroad.

K-12 Education
Schools are more segregated now than they were in the 1970s. Disparities in quality of education directly correlate with race and poverty inequities. Teachers' salaries are going down, as costs of their degrees are going up. We must completely transform our education system so every child receives the same level of education, and every teacher is valued.

Affordable Housing
Housing is a human right. Luxury development and displacement in low-income communities is a result of the corrupt land use process that allows the passage of harmful rezoning proposed by developers. Gentrification has contributed to the racial segregation of our communities and the growing gap between the rich and poor. We need to have a federal cap on rent increases, and expand affordable housing now.

Immigration Rights
We must provide a clear pathway towards citizenship, full legal protection, and economic opportunities. We must abolish ICE, and acknowledge that U.S. destabilization of other countries contributes to mass migration. America must immediately stop foreign policy that is built on colonialism, imperialism and exploitation.

Family Support
Done waiting supports Universal Pre-K, Universal Child Care, and parental leave after a family has a baby. The cost of child care can be overwhelming for working families, It is important that we invest in early education, socialization, and care of our children not only to help young families but to raise productive and compassionate members of society.
